The freezing conditions have also caused widespread disruption with trains and flights cancelled and events postponed due to the weather. The Met Office added that there would probably be some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths resulting in 'some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces'.

Located in Rockefeller Center, The Beam Experience opened today for visitors looking to recreate an iconic New York photo of 11 ironworkers taken 91 years ago at the same building.
